About Us
Our Story
Meals on Wheels North Jersey (originally Pascack Valley Meals on Wheels) was founded in June 1972. We started with six clients and some seed money from the Montvale Rotary Club. Volunteers were hard to find; it seemed like nobody had heard of a program like this! Today we have hundreds of volunteers on 20 routes delivering meals in 32 towns throughout Bergen County.
Funding
We are funded by client donations, Bergen County Senior Services, Bergen County Community grants, United Way donations, private donors and private grants.
We deliver more than just a hot meal. Watch this video to learn more about our service to Bergen County seniors.
Meet Our Staff

Jeanne Martin
Jeanne Martin has been at the helm of Meals on Wheels North Jersey as Executive Director for over 16 years. She is also the former President of Meals on Wheels New Jersey. She began her work in the non-profit world as the administrator for Christian Overcomers; a disability ministry offering respite care and social opportunities for disabled youth and adults.
She has developed an on-going supportive relationship with many of the mayors of the 30 towns MOWNJ services through her “Mayors for Meals” initiative. She has created close working ties with area hospitals, colleges and social workers who are providing her clients with invaluable services they might not have received without her unusual innovation and personal intervention. She currently serves on the Advisory Board to the Rutgers University School of Social Work.

Amanda Leggett
Amanda Leggett has been with Meals on Wheels for over 12 years as Client Coordinator. She began her career in food services at Pascack Valley Hospital back in 1973. Now she utilizes her expertise managing the meal prep process each morning in our main kitchen. She has the pleasure of greeting our volunteers each day with hot and cold coolers of fresh food for our clients.
