Meals on Wheels North Jersey Launches the Jeanne Martin Heart of Caring Fund to Honor Former Executive Director’s Legacy
Meals on Wheels North Jersey (MOWNJ) is proud to announce the creation of the Jeanne Martin Heart of Caring Fund, established to honor the extraordinary legacy of former Executive Director Jeanne Martin, whose visionary leadership guided the organization for two decades until her retirement in 2024.
The fund was officially launched during the Meals on Wheels North Jersey Harvest Fundraising Gala held on October 1 at Seasons Catering, where nearly 200 supporters, volunteers, staff members, and community partners gathered to celebrate Martin’s remarkable contributions and enduring impact on the organization and the seniors it serves.
During her 20-year tenure as Executive Director, Martin led
Meals on Wheels North Jersey through a period of extraordinary growth and transformation. Under her leadership, the organization expanded its reach exponentially, delivering countless meals to homebound seniors throughout North Bergen County while strengthening programs designed to combat hunger, isolation, and vulnerability among older adults.
Martin’s dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to improving the lives of others helped shape Meals on Wheels North Jersey into a trusted community resource and lifeline for thousands of seniors.
Throughout a constantly evolving service environment, Martin guided the organization through numerous milestones and challenges while ensuring that seniors continued to receive not only nutritious meals but also vital social interaction and wellness checks that are essential to aging with dignity and independence.
“We are thrilled to be able to honor Jeanne Martin’s incredible legacy with this fund that will be used to help supplement meals for seniors who may otherwise struggle to receive adequate nutrition,” said Janelle Larghi, Executive Director of Meals on Wheels North Jersey. “Those who worked with Jeanne, either as staff or volunteers throughout her tenure here, will attest that her compassion and caring for our clients fueled everything she did as Executive Director. This fund will help ensure her legacy continues.”
The Jeanne Martin Heart of Caring Fund will directly support meal assistance for vulnerable seniors, helping to bridge funding gaps and ensure that older adults in the community have access to nutritious food regardless of financial circumstances.

New Jersey’s favorite spiritual medium, Catherine McCall is once again providing us with an evening sharing her clairvoyant gifts and communicating with loved ones who have passed on.
